How do I become a member of your chapter?
If you are not currently a member of SHRM but would like more information about joining, please visit SHRM Online and click on Join/Renew.
To join, complete the online form for a new membership. Or, contact our chapter at columbiagorgeshrm@yahoo.com and we will email you a copy of the membership application.
Of special note: A first-year membership is $145 rather than $160. To get this special first-time rate, enter CHPWD in the Promotional Code area of the new member application.
Once you are a member of SHRM, all you need to do is contact our Membership Director, Kathy Nishimoto, at knishim@duckwallpooley.com or call 541-354-1694 so that your name can be added to our member roster.
What are the benefits of becoming a member of a chapter?
Becoming a member of a chapter gives you a home chapter, one in which you get to know your fellow members and have the ability to network with people you know and who share a common professional interest. You will also get the ability to obtain advice about handling HR situations from people you trust and know face-to-face. Being a member of a chapter does not preclude you from attending meetings at other chapters.
What does “100% chapter” mean?
Chapters requiring membership in SHRM in order to belong to the local chapter are referred to as “100% chapters”. One hundred percent chapters receive benefits and services that are not available to non-100% chapters, such as a higher level of financial support ($25 per year per SHRM member who has designated a 100% chapter as primary, compared to $10 per year for non-100% chapters); quarterly as opposed to semi-annual chapter financial support payments; a specially-designed 100% lapel pin for all chapter members; SHRM staff availability as speakers at no cost to the chapters (while non-100% chapters are responsible for expenses), and free Saturday night stay-over for the chapter president or president-elect at the annual SHRM Leadership Conference.
